Since the 1950's man has strived to make the dream of space travel a reality and the 60's saw the space race between the USA and the then Soviet republic evolve into a fantastic journey. From the very first US Gemini mission, the first Russian cosmonaut, The Apollo mission, the Russian Mir space station, the numerous satellite launches through to the space shuttle missions man has had to push himself to limits overcoming terrible tragedies and impossible tasks to further his dream. Did man land on the moon? The Russians say it's still not possible, hence why they never got there and why the Americans never went back. The only certainty is with the continuing understanding of science man will eventually travel far beyond our solar system at speeds never imagined possible. |
